What one pupil thought

In Steve's address (see above), he mentioned that Mum ran remedial classes at Fritwell Primary School. That reminded me of something. One of the boys she helped was in my class. I'll call him "Billy" here but that was not his real name. I don't actually remember the following happening but Mum told me about it many years later.

I came home from school one day and told Mum that Billy had said to me "I don't like your Mum. She makes me fink.".

Billy was the sort for whom thinking clearly required significant effort so I can imagine that he wouldn't have liked someone who caused him to have to do it. I hope Mum's efforts, unwelcome though they might have been, helped him through life.
